Snordog Brewery

2010 Labels

After a year of record production of 42 batches in 2009, the Snordog Brewery anticipates another great year year of making fine ales for all our friends. We will continue to incorporate current events and interesting personalities in the design of our labels for 2010. Hope you enjoy the 2010 line-up.

Love Child Hefeweizen - This label was inspired by a series of articles in the Nairobi Daily Nation about South African President Jacob Zuma. President Zuma is an advocate of polygamy and has currently 3 wives (plus one divorced and one deceased). The news stories concerned his fathering another child with the daughter of one of his best friends. Rumors are she may become wife # 4.

The Lunatic Express IPA - This label was inspired by the scandal involving the Rift Valley Railway. The railway was initially built by the British in 1896 and reached Kisumu on the shore of Lake Victoria in 1901. It was then expanded to Kampala, Uganda in 1931. For more background see the Wikipedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uganda_Railway). The Rift Valley Railway Consortium won a bid to manage the 900 Km railroad in 2005. During the post-election violence in 2007-2008 destructive riots blocked and partly destroyed the rail system between Kenya and Uganda leading to difficulties in supply and significant financial losses. Troubles continued to plague the railroad and profits failed to materialize as service deteriorate. Some of our friends decided to take take the train from Mombassa to Nariobi a frew years ago - usually a 13 hr overnight trip - after 3 days and the 3rd breakdown, they abandoned their trek and took a cab. Mr. Roy Puffet, CEO of the RVR, managed to work a deal where he was able to profit despite the overall financial situation of the venture. The Consortium was replaced in early 2010 by an Egyptian based group and Mr. Puffet was sent packing.

Snordog Apricot Wheat - the base of this beer was a typical American Wheat beer. We added apricot extract at bottling and the result was a decent approximation of Pyramid Apricot Wheat. So far this has been well received by visitors to the Brewery.

Saison Du Mont - This Belgian farmhouse ale is a remake of Big Brew 2009. It was extremely popular then and we had many requests for another batch. This time we got a little better attenuation using Wyeast Saison instead of White Labs version and a slightly higher ABV.

G4S (Gone in 4 seconds) Pale Ale - This pale features Nelson Sauvin hops from New Zealand and comments on the recent crisis faced by G4S Security in Kenya when numerous cash shipment we hijacked en route.

Piper's Wee Heavy Scotch Ale - this is becoming one of our standard ales.
