Beer In Nairobi II
I've been looking everywhere for more variety and have not had much luck. However, I uncovered a few more available brews:
Bavaria 8.6 - Brewed by Bavaria Brouwerji, Netherlands. This is a malt liquor boasting a whopping 8.6% a.b.v. It has a definite ethanol finish with a sweet maltiness. Not much good to say about it - a get drunk fast beer.
Windhoek Draft -Brewed by Namibia Breweries, Ltd., Windhoek, Namibia, 4% a.bv. It is touted as "delivering a refreshing taste profile for the social drinking occasion" Add another typical light East African lager to the list. Hardly distinguishable from Windhoek Lager
Windhoek Lager - Brewed by Namibia Breweries, Ltd., Windhoek, Namibia, 4% a.b.v. At least it comes in a bottle. Commerical description " Carefully brewed in the slow traditional way using natural ingredients only: malted Barley, Hops and Water." Slightly skunky light lager.
Redd's Premium - Brewed by Tanzanian Breweriwes, Dar Es Salaaam. This is an apple flavored malt beverage - pseudo-cider, 4.5% a.b.v. The can I bought is still unopened in the Fridge. I'll comment on this later
Heineken - what can I say it's about the same anywhere you go. They have skinny little cans of Heineken on KLM flights from Nairobi to the States and it's Heineken or nothing on KLM.
Well, I'll keep my eyes open for something new to try. I should have a few trips to neighboring countries in 2008 and who knows what I'll find - I'll keep you posted.
